Homework Assignment: Support Network Reflection


Objective:

Reflect on your current support network and communication strategies, and identify areas for growth and improvement in seeking support and expressing your needs.


Instructions:

  1. Inventory of Support Network:

  • Make a list of the people in your life whom you consider part of your support network. This may include friends, family members, colleagues, mentors, or professionals (therapists, counselors, etc.).

  1. Assessment of Communication Patterns:

  • Reflect on your current communication patterns with your support network. Consider how comfortable you feel reaching out to others for support and how effectively you communicate your needs and emotions.

  1. Identify Challenges:

  • Identify any challenges or barriers you face when seeking support from others or expressing your needs. These may include fear of judgment, difficulty asking for help, or ineffective communication skills.

  1. Set Goals for Improvement:

  • Based on your reflections, set specific and achievable goals for improving your ability to seek support and communicate your needs effectively. These goals could include practicing assertive communication, seeking out new sources of support, or building self-confidence in reaching out for help.

  1. Action Plan:

  • Develop an action plan outlining the steps you will take to achieve your goals. Include concrete strategies, such as practicing active listening, setting boundaries, or seeking guidance from a therapist or support group.

  1. Reflection Journal:

  • Keep a reflection journal throughout the week to track your progress and experiences. Write about any challenges you encounter, successes you achieve, and insights you gain along the way.
